Storage shelters
Storage shelters – professional covered space for equipment, materials and vehicles
Storage shelters provide flexible, professional covered space when a business needs additional capacity for machinery, vehicles, materials, stock or other equipment. They can be used as temporary or semi-permanent storage structures and are particularly relevant for construction, agriculture, workshops, logistics and other trades where a permanent building is not always the most practical solution.
Flextents.com offers storage shelters in different sizes and constructions, including models with PE or heavy-duty PVC covers and strong galvanised steel frames. The right choice depends on what you need to store, the required access and the conditions at the installation site.
What can a professional storage shelter be used for?
A storage shelter can provide covered space for:
- machinery and equipment
- vehicles and trailers
- building materials
- stock and seasonal goods
- agricultural equipment
- boats and larger leisure equipment
- sheltered work areas for selected tasks
For professional users, usable height and access can be just as important as floor area. Selected PRO models have large doors designed to accommodate machinery and even forklift access.
PE or PVC storage shelter?
The Flextents.com range includes both PE and PVC storage shelters.
PE models provide a practical and comparatively lightweight solution for professional storage where flexibility and price are important. Current PRO examples use 300 g/m² PE covers over galvanised steel frames.
PVC models use heavier cover materials and are relevant when a more substantial construction is required. Current professional models include 500 and 600 g/m² PVC covers, depending on the size and series.
Always compare the complete specification, including frame dimensions, cover weight, door size and structural data, rather than choosing on cover material alone.
Choose size, height and access carefully
A professional storage shelter should be planned around both the stored equipment and the daily workflow.
Measure the largest machinery, vehicle or material load that must enter the shelter and compare this with the door width, door height and internal clearance.
Extra height can be especially valuable for agricultural machinery, larger vehicles, stacked materials or forklift movement. Some Flextents.com PRO XL models are specifically designed with additional side and ridge height to create more usable volume.
Allow enough room to manoeuvre safely and reach stored items without having to reorganise the entire shelter.
Storage space or sheltered workspace?
Storage shelters are primarily designed for covered storage, but their size and access can also make them useful as sheltered working areas for appropriate tasks.
On building sites, farms and other professional locations, a shelter may provide protection for equipment or materials while also offering temporary covered space for preparation, maintenance or handling work.
If people will work regularly inside the structure, consider ventilation, lighting, access and any workplace requirements relevant to the activity.
The intended use should always match the specifications and limitations of the individual shelter.
Installation and anchoring
Correct installation is particularly important with larger professional shelters.
Current PRO models use galvanised steel structures and different anchoring arrangements depending on the model and installation surface. Selected models include stake pegs and ground-bar systems, while installation on concrete may require suitable expansion bolts.
Wind and snow loads vary across the range. Always check the individual technical specifications and follow the relevant weather guidance.
For selected PRO shelters used in exposed or snowy locations, Flextents.com recommends compatible Xtra Strength steel wire kits.
Professional storage shelter or industrial storage building?
A PRO storage shelter is a good choice when you need substantial covered capacity with more flexibility than a conventional permanent building.
For very large-scale industrial storage, demanding structural requirements or projects requiring specific snow and wind loads, an [industrial storage shelter] may be more appropriate. Flextents.com’s industrial range includes larger structures with model-specific documented load capacities.
For lighter temporary requirements, a [Storage tent Basic] may provide sufficient capacity at a lower level of specification.
The right category therefore depends on scale, intensity of use, stored equipment and local conditions.
Plan for professional use
Before ordering, consider:
- required floor area and internal height
- door dimensions and vehicle access
- PE or PVC cover
- frequency and intensity of use
- installation surface and anchoring
- local wind and snow conditions
- lighting and other equipment
- future storage requirements
A well-chosen storage shelter should support the way the business actually operates rather than simply provide the maximum possible square metres.
Frequently asked questions about professional storage shelters
What is a professional storage shelter?
It is a framed covered structure designed to provide substantial storage space for machinery, vehicles, materials, stock and other professional equipment without requiring a traditional permanent building.
Are professional storage shelters made from PE or PVC?
Both are available. Current Flextents.com PRO models include 300 g/m² PE covers as well as heavier 500–600 g/m² PVC versions. The exact construction varies by model.
Can a forklift enter a storage shelter?
Some models have large doors specifically suitable for forklift access. Always compare the actual door dimensions and internal clearance with the machinery you intend to use.
Can a professional storage shelter stay outside all year?
This depends on the model, installation and local conditions. Check the specific wind and snow load, anchoring requirements and weather guidance for the shelter you are considering.
